Located in southern England, South Studio is a multidisciplinary design and build practice working across construction, timber and fabrication.

The studio focuses on small-scale, well-crafted projects and the development of practical building systems, alongside educational consultancy and collaboration with universities.

The practice is led by Ben Shirley, an Assistant Professor working across teaching and applied research in timber construction and building performance.

With a background in carpentry, architectural design and applied research, his work bridges craftsmanship, technical systems and real-world construction.
